After years of being featured on standard agility courses in most venues, today the chute was eliminated from use in one of American agility’s oldest organizations. The United States Dog Agility Association has removed the collapsed tunnel from use immediately, instructing judges to substitute one or more single or spread hurdles, the long jump, or a pipe (or open) tunnel instead. The Teacup Dog Agility Association has also stopped using the chute, effective September 1. In a statement released on the TDAA Facebook page, organizers said that on that date forward, “…the TDAA neither allows nor requires performance of the collapsed tunnel (aka ‘chute’) at TDAA-sanctioned events….”
